Bespoke furniture and joinery sit at the heart of our interior design process — considered from the very beginning and designed as integral elements that shape how a space feels and functions.
We collaborate with specialist makers across Bristol, the Cotswolds and London to create furniture and joinery shaped by the architecture of a space and the lives of those who will inhabit it. This gives each piece presence, meaning, and longevity — qualities that cannot be replicated by something off-the-shelf. From joinery that resolves an architectural challenge with elegance, to a table designed around the rituals of family life, each piece becomes part of the story of the space and user.
What follows reflects how bespoke furniture and joinery evolve within our design process, and why these elements so often become defining features of our interiors.
THE VALUE OF BESPOKE DESIGN
Designed around use
Bespoke furniture and joinery are created with the people who will use them in mind. Each piece can support daily routines, adapt to different lifestyles, and respond to the practical and emotional needs of its users. By balancing function with personal style, bespoke pieces feel intuitive, comfortable, and effortless to live with — enhancing how a space is experienced rather than simply filling it.
Shaped by Architecture
Every building has a language of its own. Sloping ceilings, deep reveals, wonky walls, exposed beams — these nuances are not only obstacles to overcome, but opportunities to create something unique and that sits harmonious with the character of the building and make the design feel as though it has always belonged, complementing the architecture rather than competing with it. Thoughtful choices of materials and finishes ensure that each element flows seamlessly with the wider palette of the interior.
Craft and Longevity
Bespoke furniture allows collaboration with makers who share a commitment to craftsmanship, material honesty, and enduring quality. From hand-selected timber to carefully chosen hardware, each element is considered for its longevity, durability, and character. Well-crafted bespoke pieces age gracefully, adding lasting value and beauty to a home or space.
HOW WE DESIGN AND COMMISSION BESPOKE PIECES
Joinery: Part of the Architectural Framework
We consider fitted joinery from the very start of the design process, as it plays a key role in shaping the flow, rhythm, and function of a space. Proportions, material transitions, and integration of power and lighting are all developed with a holistic mindset, ensuring the joinery feels intentional, cohesive, and fully resolved in every aspect.

Freestanding Furniture: Crafted through Collaboration
Once the broader design is established, we begin commissioning freestanding bespoke pieces in close collaboration with specialist makers and in ongoing dialogue with the client. Drawing on shared expertise, the designs evolve organically to create pieces that integrate seamlessly with the interior.
Design Refinement and Material Exploration
Drawings, visuals, prototypes, samples, and mock-ups are all part of the process. Clients can experience the materials in their hands, see how light moves across a finish, and understand the subtleties that will shape the final piece. This stage ensures that every detail feels right before production begins.

Production and Installation
We stay engaged throughout fabrication, overseeing the process to ensure the final piece reflects the original vision. Once on site, installation is carefully managed so the furniture sits effortlessly within the room — perfectly aligned, levelled, and finished to the high standard our projects are known for.
If you are considering an interior design project, we would be delighted to discuss how bespoke furniture and joinery might contribute to both the character and functionality of your space.
